Tatty Chair
I have been looking around for weeks for an old tatty wooden chair to use as part of my exhibition, I have been to charity shops car boots you name it but with no luck.... until today when I was told about a local restaurant that had a load of old chairs in their garage so I went down and they kindly let me have one, its been there a while and is really battered which is just the kind of thing I was looking for. I'm going to sand it down and paint it white to match the rest of the furniture in my display.

Camden Passage
When I recently visited London I also made a trip to Camden Passage in Islington which is home to a variety of small vintage/ antique shops and stalls. It's got a great atmosphere and is full of fab finds like old brooches, necklaces, hats etc, however my favourite place in Camden passage was a cute vintage shop called Annies who stock everything from 60's flower power dresses to tophats.

The Tell-Tale Heart Display
This is again one of my finished pieces based on another of the Poe short stories this one being The Tell Tale Heart. The heart is small plastic replica of a human heart donated to me by my sister (explained in an earlier post) I have attached the heart to a gold chain making it a wearable piece the small blood stains were created by melting a red wax crayon, the text at the side is a quote from the book which I think is one of the most famous quotes from a Poe story and instantly recognised by most people.
Poison Bottle Display
This piece is centered around the 19th century serial killer Mary Ann Cotton, Mary killed around 21 people many of which were her immediate family she also murdered three of her husbands all by the aid of the poison arsenic. My display contains a small poison bottle, around the neck hangs a gold chain which holds three gold rings symbolic of the three husbands she murdered. I have placed the bottle inside a wooden lantern that I picked up from a junk shop last week, I also connected a blue LED light to the top of the lantern which I think highlights the bottle and jewellery inside even more.
The Gold Bug Finished piece
Here's a few photographs of my piece based on the Edgar Allan Poe story The Gold Bug, the display includes the tree, skull, buried treasure and of course the bug itself which all feature in the tale. Both the chest and tree are adorned with decorative gold chains symbolic of greed and excess, the treasure chest also contains a large gold ring, this is the primary accessory that is being promoted.

Movie Making
Thought I could make a slide show at some point with the photographs of my final pieces so me and my sister have experimented with a bit of film making over the weekend, the theme isn't really connected with my concept just a bit of fun so take a look!

Tell Tale Heart
I have been trying to find a replica of a human heart to use as part of my final display based on the Poe story The Tell Tale Heart.... Lucky for me I have a strange kid sister who's hobby is to collect Living Dead Doll's and one she recently bought contains a small plastic human heart that is perfect! She has also purchased a double doll set of Edgar Allan Poe and Annabelle Lee (poem wrote by Poe) which also contains a small raven that I could also put to some use.

More Sketchbook.....
Here's more pics from my sketchbook, I got the idea of making a variety of luggage tags after seeing some Alice In Wonderland themed ones on a blog a few weeks ago, for mine I went for a nostalgic look using vintage paper, self-adhesive lettering, pressed flowers, decoupage and ageing techniques such as tea-staining.
